Friday 20th September, 2019: The Day That Changed The World

Image
The previous Friday was the beginning of a new era. The Global Climate Strike had over 7.6 MILLION people around the world fighting for change, fighting for the destruction of our planet Earth to stop, fighting for their future on this Earth. Over 185 countries, 73 trade unions, 3024 businesses, 820 organisations and 8583 online websites wanted to have a say in the way the higher ups are treating our planet. Here are just a few of many photos that proves that all it takes is just one person to create change, to make a difference. Greta Thunberg is that person! If we don't do something about the ways coal, gas and oil companies are treating our planet, we will no longer have a planet. "In order to change the world, you must first change yourself." - C. JoyBell C. - Simon References: https://www.schoolstrike4climate.com/ https://globalclimatestrike.net/ https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/7570656-in-order-to-change-the-world-you-must-first-chang...

Scott Morrison, this one is for you!

Image
"The entire ecosystem is collapsing. We are at the beginning of mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!" quoted by Greta Thunberg during her speech in the UN Climate Action summit. In a world where there isn't much time to save the Earth, Scott Morrison (ScoMo) states "I want children growing up in Australia to feel positive about their future... I don't want our children to have anxieties about these issues." In response to such, I am appalled at the fact that Scott Morrison is hiding behind a facade, presenting himself as someone who cares about the environment. Already, ScoMo has given the green light for the Adani coal mines meaning land will be cleared to make way for a new mine. This means ancestral land, water and culture of Indigenous people will be destroyed. As a result, such project will release 4.6 billion tonnes of carbon pollution in our atmosphere. Now, tell me ScoMo, ho...

It is time to rebel!

Image
As of right now, the world is facing a climate and ecological crisis which will soon lead to the world imploding if nothing is done. In saying such "...it is now time for civil disobedience. It is time to rebel." (Greta Thunberg) Taking into consideration of what is happening to our earth, School Strike 4 Climate held a Global Climate Strike on the 20th of September at The Domain for Sydney siders. With such, 350,000 people nationwide attended the climate strike on Friday, overflowing major cities with deep concerns and worries about the fate of our Earth. Joining the strike, the band "the 1975" also joined forces with the young and old. With such, they all shared the same demands which were No new fossil fuel, oil or gas projects. 100% renewable energy generation. Funding for a just transition and job creation for all fossil-fuel industry workers and communities.  Below are some snapshots of the Climate Strike. For updates on future clima...

Before it's all in vain...

Image
The recent Global Climate Strike is a reminder about how much the problem of Climate Change is affecting the people of the future, but unfortunately that's not enough, because until unless the governments and big leaders form a resolve to try and implement the methods to control it, everything is and will continue to go in vain. The devastating fact is that, climate strike is no longer just an "environmental" issue, people are suffering, animals and plants are losing their very existence, islands are vanishing and if the heat continued to warm at the same pace, one day the world as we know it will demolish and there will be no one to counteract the problem or implement the methods. FelĂquan Charlemagne, 17, stated in an interview with the Verge, "Whatever policies come out of the strike and the UN climate events, these solutions need to be based off of the actual science, having a target of net zero emissions by 2030, and need to be bold and as big as the crisis we’...

Is it peak time yet?

How sad is this, that our Earth; home to million species of both flora and fauna have become nothing more than a ticking bomb! I often wonder how long do we have before the consequences of our stupid and extremely toxic actions, start to occur in full blow! To figure out how to decipher solutions to the problem of climate change, the most important thing we need to focus on more than anything is trying to figure out simple solutions that have long lasting and effective benefits. Given that the world’s nations show little if any inclination to reduce emissions and greenhouse gases, the climate may very well continue to warm. And where will that lead us to? Sinking continents? Extinct animals? Dying rainforests? WHAT IS THE WORLD'S MOST INTELLIGENT SPECIES DOING? Sitting idle and making big plans, while doing nothing? The question still remains the same but what do we actually do about it ? Think how next year we will definitely do something productive ? Think how we will finally f...

Protect. Restore. Fund.

Image
We are living in the world of mass destruction (which is being destroyed by us every millisecond, thanks to the weapons and instruments made by us) the point is what can we do next to save it ? Yes, there are many movements and treaties going around throughout the world, but what can we as individuals do, to save our Mother Earth? The answer lie in three very simple words, PROTECT, RESTORE AND FUND. Protect our tropical rainforest (the lungs of the Earth) which are being depleted at a rate of 30 football pitches every single minute. Restore the resources which are on the verge of extinction. Much of our soil and trees have been destroyed, but nature can be restored if given proper care and adequate time. Lastly, Fund, we need to stop funding things that destroy our nature and start funding towards saving it. The big machines and high tech plans worth thousands of dollars are not the only way to save our earth from climate change and it's consequences, little steps such as planting ...

Wake Up!

Image
Quoting the 16 year old Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg, who has inspired a global movement for climate change, "This is not the time and place for dreams. This is the time to wake up !" Even though climate change is seen as the most important issue, still no vital steps are being taken to tackle it soundly!    A recent survey conducted by  Nick Lowles, from UK-based anti-racism group Hope not Hate, said the findings showed that the public were “way ahead” of politicians in recognising the scale of the climate crisis. “They understand the scale of the problem and want governments to take the strong and decisive action that this emergency requires.” The poll surveyed more than 1,000 people in the UK, Canada, Germany, Italy, Brazil, France, Poland and the US. It found that at least three-quarters of the public think the world is facing a “climate emergency”, with climate breakdown at risk of becoming “extremely dangerous”. The UK has the smallest p...

There are only 18 months left to save the world? Project Change is here!

Image
Salutations from Project Change. We are a blog page dedicated to informing and updating our viewers on the current Climate Change issue as well as ways to be more greener. Upon visiting our blog, we will be discussing issues related to Climate Change such as air pollution, current environmental issues, actions needed to protect the environment and ways we can cut down our greenhouse emissions! With the constant emissions of greenhouse gas through transportation, electricity production, and deforestation, damages to our Earth are being done. Already the time left before the Earth is unsavable has dropped from 12 years to just 18 months. According to the United Nations, from 1880 to 2012, the average global temperature has increased by 0.85 degrees. As the temperature continues to increase, sea levels are rising, diminishing habitats in Antartica and Artic. With that being said, action needs to be taken NOW before it's too late. - Jackie Reference: https://www.un.org/en/s...
