What does sustainable development mean?

According to International Institute for Sustainable Development defined that "sustainable development is the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

 The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development sets 17 Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030. These are goals that nations around the world must work towards together.

Why should human achieve sustainable development?

1. It can make people live a better living environment with improving living quality within the ecosystem capacity by achieving the sustainable development.

2. Decrease the rate of global warming and control climate change.

3. Produce more financially sustainable economies with rational development and utilization of resources. 

4. Remain the biodiversity.

5.  Support the survival of human offspring and the continuation of life.

What can human beings do to achieve sustainable development?

1. Start with yourself. E.g. reduce the use of plastic bags, do not litter and adhere to the garbage classification, save the use of water and electricity and stick to green travel.

2. Call on people around you to protect the environment. E.g. let your family and friends learn about the importance of protecting the environment and actively participate in community publicity activities.

3. Governments can enact laws and regulations relevant to protecting environment to reward or punish citizens.
